Seeing the Light in Grand Central Terminal

The natural light that beams into New York’s Grand Central Terminal today is nothing like those monstrous shafts that bombarded the place 75 years ago. It’s unfortunate, I suppose, but that doesn’t mean Grand Central has lost all its luster. I could, in fact, argue that present-day Grand Central’s subtler, more nuanced lighting situation is more intriguing than the in-your-face state of affairs of yesteryear.

The photos below are, to me, indicative of what can be done with the incredible light in Grand Central Terminal. The full Grand Central project, including many more photos and a brief write-up, can be viewed here.
